SIL inedx Model

October 4th, 2009

Dear participants,

Attached you will find a draft version of a possible SIL index model to measure performance of sustainability in logistics on firm level .

Please remember this is a first draft, we do expect you will contribute in the development of this quick scan.

For that we will need your desk research and your field research (in the company); and sharing those results with us on this webblog.

Good luck and kind regards,

Jan H. Jansen

SIL index Model to measure the performance of sustainability of logistic activities in a company

Project: Sustainability in Logistics index

September 16th, 2009

Goal of the project

The idea of the Sustainability in Logistics index was offered by Jan H. Jansen (The Netherlands), he also developed the structure of the project. During this project will be used the Sustainability in Logistics blog developed by Elena Kaledinova.

The goal of the project is to develop an SIL index to measure how well companies perform in the field of sustainability in logistics. Students of two universities perform their research on this topic on a theoretical level (what indicators should be included in a SIL index; and why they should be included) and a practical level (field research in a company in a certain industry in their home country). The results of the research are shared; so more knowledge is developed on the topic of sustainability in logistics.
